Guide To Jazz

I like to read old jazz books and to hear the thoughts of critics who had first hand of the musical greats. It's a bit like playing jazz on a an old record deck with a diamond tipped stylush, it just sounds genuine.

  1. Hi, It is a superb read ... Jazz in context, without all of the baggage that has been accumulated over the past 50 years.

I found a couple of sites that list it:

Wishing you all the best with your listening.

  2. Hi, I just randomly picked up Benny Carter's "Swingin' the 20s" earlier and was totally blown away by the jazz that was played on the record! Totally awesome. There's a reference to this book and I wasn't able to find it on Amazon - do you know where I might have some luck getting/buying a copy? Feels like it's a rare piece but wanted to read up more on 20s,30s and 40s jazz. Thanks!
