MAJOR GLENN MILLER and his Army Air Force Orchestra present THE WEHRMACHT HOUR - NOVEMBER 1944 - PROPAGANDA BROADCASTS

MAJOR GLENN MILLER and the American Band of the Supreme Allied Command recorded a series of transcriptions for a half hour weekly broadcast that was specifically beemed at the German Army in occupied Europe. The broadcasts were aired over the American Broadcasting Station in Europe (ABSIE) on Wednesday afternoons at 1:30/2:00. The program was called "The German Wehrmacht Hour."

The programs were recorded on 12 inch 78 rpm acetate discs and were announced in German and English by a German girl only known as lisa, and Major Miller himself. The first recording session was held at the HMV Studio, Abbey Road, St. John's Wood on Monday, October 30,1944. Nine cuts were completed at this session with the first seven being the first program that was aired November 8th. The other two cuts were two takes of the closing theme to be used on all future programs in the series.
